Tips to Encourage Physical Activity

In today’s world, it’s important to keep your children physically active. Involving them in physical activity can not only help to improve their physical health but their mental health too. Such activities also work towards relieving boredom and meeting new people and making new friends is always important for children, in order to further develop their social skills. At Eskay Kids, a day care centre in Capalaba we encourage physical activity among the children and we teach them all sorts of new and fun activities.

1. Set a routine for the day

When you are trying to inculcate good habits, your child instantaneously follows you. Hence, when you have finished all of your work or chores, you can play with your child outdoors, or indoors. This teaches your children that once you achieve the things on your to-do list, you can reward yourself. Playing games with your children is extremely important, whether it’s sports or playing in the garden, or with dress ups – giving them your time will enhance their confidence in that area.

2. Encourage outdoor sports

We usually fail to understand the importance of sports for children. Even if your child doesn’t seem to be interested, it’s still important to encourage something that they seem to enjoy. For example, your child may not be interested in soccer, but they might love to swim, so taking them to the pool might be the perfect outdoor activity.

3. Avoid Technology Addiction

A young toddler is bound to discover your mobile phone at some point. But it is up to you to set boundaries. Electronic devices are obviously a huge part of our life, without them we wouldn’t be able to do so many amazing things that we can today. However, device addiction is a serious thing for young children, and when children do become addicted to their device, it affects their social skills and overall development. The easiest way to avoid technology addiction is to set boundaries with your children. Allow them to play games or watch tv for a certain amount of time each day and then ensure they stop and go and play outside.

5. Parks

If you love teaching your child sports or games, then outdoors is the best place. When you are in a beautiful and lush green park, the peaceful atmosphere actually refreshes the mind. Take some time to walk with your child down to a nearby park to kick the ball around, or just simply to enjoy the fresh air and natures fruits.

Conclusion:

Organise picnics, go camping, sign your child up for soccer or scouts. As a parent, it’s crucial to ensure your child is spending time in the great outdoors. There is much to learn from nature, far more than what you might learn watching tv or playing computer games. At Eskay Kids, early childhood education Capalaba we emphasize the importance of outdoor play and outdoor learning. We appreciate all that nature has taught us and we know how crucial it is for children to have an authentic and fulfilling childhood.
